초록[abstracts]
[의료 공간이 복원과 치료, 생명과 건강의 강화 공간만이 아닌, 제도적이며 구조적인 차원에서 여성을 향한 폭력의 수행 공간일 수 있다는 강력한 문제제기는 사회적, 문화적 터부 중 하나이기도 하다. 바로 이러한 터부를 깨뜨리며 부상한 것이 산과 의료폭력 개념이다. 본고는 프랑스 사회를 들썩이게 한 이 개념의 대중화 경로를 경유하여, 한국사회 최초로 이 개념을 학술적 차원에서 도입하고자 한다. 이것은 1992년 미국 학술지 Birth에서 처음으로 보고되었으며 2002년에야 전 세계적 파급력이 있는 The lancet라는 국제 학술지에서 본격적으로 심화되어 다루어졌다. 이것은 크게 언어적, 심리적, 물리적, 성적 폭력으로 범주화되며 여성의 자율성 약화와 행위력 제거 효과를 띠는 것으로 의료 공간의 효율적 생산성을 높이는 절차로 관행화되고 매뉴얼화된 측면이 매우 크다. 이러한 제도적 폭력은 여성의 피임의 권리와 임신과 출산, 분만 이후의 경험을 공포와 수치심의 경험으로 변질시키는 것으로 여성의 몸을 겨냥하는 권력기제들이라 할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 이것은 미시적 차원에서 순응적 여성 개인들을 양산하는 규율권력임과 동시에 거시적 차원에서 인구 재생산 기계라는 성 계급성을 여성들에게 강제하는 생명정치권력이기도 하기 때문이다. 산과 의료폭력 개념은 상호감응과 비판적 견제를 통한 의료진과 환자 간의 새로운 소통 공간이자 지식 공간, 치료공간을 기획해내는 교섭과 변형의 장이 될 것이다. 나아가 이것은 산과와 여성의학과에서 여성의 미래적 몸 공간이 재구성되는 새로운 지평의 도약대가 될 것이다.
This article focuses on the controversial concept of obstetric violence that involves the emerging problem．This concerns the taboo consisting in the idealization of medical space as a cure space．Because this concept is a critical approach by which the difference of authority and of scientific knowledge between the medical staff and patient are the cause of hierarchical violence. This violence is gendered and structural violence．It is for first time discussed in 1992 in the American journal called Birth and is thoroughly and academically defined in 2002 in an internationally renowned magazine called The Lancet．Obstetric violence has four categories, including verbal and physical, psychological, sexual violence．The aim of this kind of violence is to destroy the capacity to action of women and to undermine their autonomies． In addition, obstetric violence is a disciplinary power that produces the docile body of a woman as a controllable individual and an biopower that reduces women to a reproductive machine of the population．This notion is the upheaval in the medical systeme, insofar as the medical space becomes the unprecedented site by which the new modality of communication and of formation of knowledge are woven.]
