In this paper, we study the materials that can be utilized as teaching materials by finding suitable movies for movie appreciation education. The film will be the 24 weeks produced by the young German director Anne Zohra Berrached in 2016. The main synopsis of the film is that Astrid, the 24th week of her pregnancy, knows that the fetus has Down syndrome and cardiac puncture and that she will undergo surgery to stop the pregnancy after the conflict and troubles. This film concentrates on depicting Astrid's conflict and anguish standing at the crossroads of choice, instead of heading for a given answer. It invites the audience to actively encounter the film by using visual languages such as elliptical jump cuts, handheld cameras, and repetitive use of images. The purpose of this study is to analyze the open composition of the film as much as possible and to raise the usefulness of it as a teaching material for movie appreciation education.
국문 초록[abstracts]
본 연구는 영화감상교육에 적합한 영화를 발굴하여 강좌에서 활용할 수 있는 하 나의 방법을 제안한다. 본고에서 소개할 영화는 독일의 안네 초라 베라체트 감독의 <24주>(2016)이다. 이 영화의 주요 시놉시스는 임신 24주차인 여주인공 아스트리드 가 다운증후군과 심장천공을 가지고 있는 뱃속의 태아를 갈등과 고민 끝에 낙태한 다는 내용이다. 이 영화는 낙태에 대한 특정한 논리를 일방적으로 전달하기 보다는 선택의 기로에 서 있는 아스트리드의 갈등과 고뇌를 깊이 있게 묘사하는데 집중한 다. 그리고 생략과 점프컷을 활용한 비관습적인 편집, 클로즈업을 잡아내는 핸드헬 드 카메라, 이미지의 반복적인 사용과 같은 영상언어를 활용하여 관객들이 능동적으 로 영화와 조우하도록 권유한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 영화의 열린 구성을 최대한 입체적으로 분석하고, 그 안에서 다양한 질문들을 제시하여 영화감상교육의 교재로 서의 유용성을 높이고자 하였다.
