미국의 죽음교육과 한국교육에 주는 시사점

The purpose of this paper is to investigates about death Education in the United States and to find implications for death Education in Korea. This paper investigates ground of death education and introduces specific school programs in the United States. On this context, The paper find three implications on death education in Korea. First, the teacher in charge have an ability of teaching about death for the operating of curriculum on death education. Therefore teacher training program on death education that must be established. Second, death education designed by committee of preparation for death education that the committee should guarantee participation of main agents on education. Third, the specialist of various fields are able to participates when constructing of curriculum on death education.
국문 초록[abstracts]
본 연구의 목적은 미국의 죽음교육에 대하여 구체적으로 밝히고, 이를 바탕으로 한국의 죽음교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 탐구하는 데 있다. 먼저 미국의 죽음교육에서는 죽음교육의 배경에 대해 탐구하고, 이어 미국의 초등학교와 고등학교에서 실제로 운영되었던 죽음교육프로그램에 대하여 상세하게 알아보았다. 이를 바탕으로 도출된 미국의 죽음교육이 한국에 주는 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 죽음교육을 시행하기 위해서는 담당교사가 교육과 연수를 통해 죽음교육프로그램을 운용할 수 있는 역량을 갖춰야 한다. 둘째, 죽음교육은 교육의 주체들이 모두 적극적으로 참여할 수 있는 죽음교육준비위원회를 바탕으로 기획되어야 한다. 셋째, 죽음교육과정을 구성할 때에는 죽음교육의 다학문적 기반을 고려하여 다양한 분야의 전문가들을 참여시켜야 한다.
