난임 여성이 경험하는 상실에 관한 질적 연구

[본 연구는 기독교 난임 여성들이 난임 상황에서 경험하는 상실에 초점을 두어 질적 연구 방법으로 살펴보고, 이를 토대로 난임 여성의 상실 회복을 돕기 위해 상담자가 어떻게 개입을 하는 것이 필요한지 조명하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 난임 전문병원에서 난임 진단을 받고 시험관 시술을 한 적이 있는 32–38세의 여성 7명이며, 연구 방법은 현상학적 방법 중 참여자의 경험에서 나오는 공통적인 진술 내용들을 범주화하는 Colaizzi(1978)의 연구 방법을 적용하였다. 연구결과 46개의 의미 진술과 14개의 주제, 7개의 주제모음이 도출되었으며, 주제모음 7개는 여성 정체성의 상실, 관계의 상실, 모성 경험의 상실, 희망의 상실, 즐거움의 상실, 친밀한 성생활의 상실, 하나님과의 긍정적·부정적 관계의 상실로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 기초로 난임 여성이 경험하는 상실에 대해 심리사회적으로 이해하고자 하였으며, 기독교적 관점에서 난임의 경험에 대한 고찰을 하였다. 또한 난임 여성들이 경험하는 상실이 억압된 이야기와 왜곡된 생각들에 기인한다고 보고 난임 여성의 상실 회복을 위한 효과적인 상담의 방향성을 제시하였다.
This research explores the subfertile women’s experience of a sense of loss by a qualitative research method. The purpose of this research is to examine effective interventions of Christian counselors in order to help subfertile women recover from their sense of loss. The participants of this research were seven subfertile women, age of 32–38, who were diagnosed as subfertility and were on in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer. The research method employed was phenomenological study by Colaissi (1978) that categorizes the common themes among statements by research participants. As a result, forty–six meaningful statements, fourteen themes, and seven theme clusters were extracted from interview: sense of loss for female identity, sense of loss for relationships, sense of loss for motherly experience, sense of loss for hope, sense of loss for joy, and sense of loss for intimate sexual experience. Based on the result, the researchers explain the subfertile women’s experience of sense of loss from the psycho–social perspective. Reflection on experience of subfertility from the Christian perspective was also provided. In conclusion, considering that the subfertile women’s experience of a sense of loss was caused by oppressed narratives and distorted thoughts, the researchers suggest narrative counseling, cognitive restructuring, and support group, as effective counseling interventions for recovering the subfertile women’s sense of loss.]
