- The study aims to review the trends of Korean social work research on dementia. For the purpose of the study, 93 social work research articles from 16 journals were analyzed according to research method, research object, way of social work practice, key ward and approach to dementia. 63 articles(67.7%) adopted the quantitative research method and over half of entire articles(51.6%) were written about family caregivers while the number of articles on people with dementia was only half of them(22.6%). 76. 3% of the articles was concentrated on micro-level direct social work practice and 55.9% of the articles was based on psychological approach to dementia, which shows a tendency overly dependent on clinical social work practice and lack of diverse approaches to dementia. Based on the results of the analysis, several research suggestions were made including conducting more researches reflecting direct voices and experiences of people with dementia, broadening the framework of social work practice, and applying diverse approaches to dementia.
본 연구에서는 초기 치매인 증가와 치매 질환의 만성화, 치매 돌봄의 장기화에 따른 치매인 대상 사회복지실천의 필요성을 전제로, 지난 20년간 16개 학술지에 게재된 총 93편의 국내 치매 관련 사회복지 학술논문의 연구 동향을 분석하였다. 분석 대상 논문의 전반적 현황, 연구방법과 연구대상, 사회복지실천 방법, 연구내용, 그리고 치매에 대한 접근방식을 살펴본 결과 치매 관련 연구에 대한 관심이 노인복지 분야에 집중되었고, 연구방법에서는 양적 조사연구가 대다수인 63편(67.7%)이었으며, 분석대상 논문의 과반수(51.6%)가 가족 돌봄자 연구에 집중된 반면, 치매인 대상 연구는 절반 수준(22.6%)으로 나타났다. 사회복지실천 방법과 관련하여 대인적 실천과 관련된 논문이 절대다수(76. 3%)로 임상 실천과 서비스 제공에 집중된 반면, 행정이나 정책 등 중·거시적 사회복지연구는 미약한 수준이었다. 분석대상 논문의 과반수(55.9%)가 치매에 대한 접근방식에 있어 심리적 모델에 해당하였으며, 사회적 모델과 다학제적 모델을 적용한 논문은 소수에 불과하여 치매에 대한 다양한 접근방식이 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 분석결과를 기반으로 치매인의 경험과 목소리를 반영하는 연구와 치매에 대한 총체적 사회복지실천 모델에 대한 연구, 치매에 대한 다양한 접근을 적용한 연구의 필요성을 제언하였다.
