포스트휴먼은 인간의 존엄성을 위협하는가?
= Does Post-human Threaten Human Dignity?

국문 초록[abstracts] 기술은 늘 인간 자신과 인간 삶의 형식에 거대한 전환을 야기했다. 기술에 대한 인간의 태도는 늘 양가적이었다. 어떤 사람들은 기술의 발전에 경이로워하며 환영하는 반면, 또 어떤 사람들은 기술의 발달이 초래할 인간 자신과 삶의 형식의 변화를 경계해온 것이 사실이다. 인간 향상 기술을 바라보는 시선들도 이와 다르지 않다. 특히 현대의 첨단 과학기술과 생명공학, 인지과학, 정보통신기술의 결합에 의한 인간 향상 기술은 소위 ‘트랜스휴먼’과 ‘포스트휴먼’이라 불리는 새로운 인간형의 등장을 예고하고 있다. 기술의 융합으로 인한 인간 향상은 이제 인간의 근본적 본성과 지위에 관한 철학적 · 윤리적 담론의 필요성을 제기하고 있다. 본 논문에서 필자는 인간 향상의 의미가 무엇인지에 관해 살피고, 이를 통해 트랜스휴먼, 포스트휴먼에 대한 개념적 명료화를 시도할 것이다. 그리고 향상 기술에 의한 이러한 새로운 인간형의 등장은 현생인류의 존엄성과 도덕적 지위에 위협이 될 수 있다 주장하는 생명보수주의자들의 논증의 타당성을 검토한다. 그런 다음 인간 향상이 인간의 존엄성을 위협하는 것이 아니라, 인간과 향상된 인간의 경계는 점차 약화될 것이며 오히려 이러한 변화는 우리가 직면해 있는 여러 위기적 상황들을 극복하기 위한 대안이 될 수 있음을 주장한다.
다국어 초록[Multilingual Abstract] Technology has always led to a huge shift in human being and human"s forms of life. Human attitudes toward technology have always been ambivalent. While some people are wondering and welcoming the advancement of technology, others have also warned of changes in the way in which humans themselves and the way of life are brought about by the development of technology. The eyes that look at human enhancement technology are no different. Especially, human enhancement technology by combination of modern high technology and biotechnology, cognitive science, and information and communication technology predicts the emergence of a new humanoid type called "transhuman" and "posthuman". Human enhancement through technological convergence now raises the need for philosophical and ethical discourse on the fundamental nature and status of human beings. In this paper, I will examine what the meaning of human enhancement is, and try to clarify the concept of trans human and post human. And I review the validity of the arguments of the bio-conservatists who argue that the emergence of this new type of humanity through the enhancement technology can be a threat to the dignity and moral status of human beings. Then, I argue that human enhancement is not a threat to human dignity, but that the boundaries between humans and enhanced humans will gradually weaken, and that this change can be an alternative to overcoming the many current crisis situations we face.
