초록[abstracts]
[이 연구는 김승옥의 『환상수첩』에 나타난 자살 모티프에 주목하고 그 윤리적 함의를 검토한 것이다. 자본주의적 근대의 도래는 절대적인 진리, 분명한 윤리적 실체, 인륜적 보편성 등을 의미하는 주인담론의 쇠퇴를 불러왔고, 그 대신 생존과 자기보존을 최상의 가치로 격상시켰다. ‘옳고 그름’의 문제보다 ‘생존과 죽음’의 문제가 더욱 중요해진 것이다.『환상수첩』에는 이러한 현실 속에 놓인 청년들이 등장한다. 수영과 영빈은 현실적 흐름에 발맞추어 수단방법을 가리지 않고 자기보존에 주력한다. 반면, 주인공인 정우는 ‘어떻게 살아야 하는가’를 고민하면서 자기보존이라는 근대의 일반적인 모럴에 맞서 새로운 윤리를 찾고자 한다. 그 가운데 선애의 죽음과 곡예사 이씨의 죽음은 그에게 중대한 변화를 일으킨다. 본고는 특히 선애와 이씨의 행위가 지니는 윤리적 함의를 살펴보고자 했으며, 이를 위해 라캉의 ‘상징적 자살’이라는 개념을 참조하였다. 상징적 자살이란 물리적 자살과는 철저하게 구분되어야 하는 것으로, 주체가 자신의 정체성을 제공해주었던 외적 현실과의 연결고리를 완전히 끊고 아무것도 의존하지 않은 채로 주체적 궁핍에 머무는 것을 뜻한다. 본고는 이러한 이론적 틀로『환상수첩』을 분석하면서, 김승옥 소설이 ‘자아와 현실의 이항대립’에서 부정의 부정으로의 이행을 보여준다는 것을 밝히고자 하였다.
This research focuses a suicide motif in 『Hwansangsoochub』 written by Kim Seung-ok, and examines the ethical implication. The advent of capitalist modernity brought a decline in the discourse of the master, meaning as an absolute truth, an ethical substantial, an ethical universality and so on. Instead, it brought the fact that the survival and self-preservation is upgraded as the highest value. That means the issue of ‘survival and death’ is more important than the ‘right and wrong’. The youngsters who are in this reality appear in 『Hwansangsoochub』. Soo-Young and Young-Bin concentrate on the self-preservation by any means necessary keeping up with the realistic flow. On the other hand, Jeong-Woo agonizes about ‘how can we live’ and tries to find a new ethic fought against the general moral such as a self-preservation. In the mean time, the death of Sun-Ae and Mr.Lee, the acrobat, arouses his significant changes. This article searches the ethical implication about the act of Sun-An and Mr.Lee, and refers the term of the ‘symbolic suicide’ written by Lacan. Symbolic suicide has to be thoroughly distinguished by a physical suicide, meaning that the subject sever the link between the identity and external reality, and stay in the subjective destitution. The study analyzes 『Hwansangsoochub』 according to the theoretical framework, and reconsider the preexisting discussions that the novel of Kim Seung-ok could reaches a dialectical synthesis or not from the ‘opposition between the ego and the reality’.]
