초록[abstracts] 
The purpose of this study is to examine the perspective of the death of the existential philosophers and discuss death education based on their understanding of death. The study shows that the understanding of death based on existential philosophy gives significance to death education and secures the implications of death education. Three conclusions about the meaning of death education are as under.    First, death education has its meaning as an anticipation of life education. Authenticity can be restored by reflection on death. Heidegger insisted that the restoration of authenticity is to reveal the uniqueness of being in all beings. It is possible that an inauthentic being can restore authenticity through the anticipatory determination toward death. Death education can reinforce the will of life, and it presupposes self-education for a subjective and independent life through own decision. Additionally death education can be a door to communication to others.    Second, death education helps us exercise right self-determination. It is reviewed that death education can help us have our own decisions on death under this modern time of death Medicalization. The ethics of euthanasia assures the necessity of death education. The impending law of life sustaining treatment(well dying bill) is discussed with the existential point of view. Death education can be necessary because our own decisions on dignified life and dignified death are closely connected to Exitenz.    Third, death education makes us ascend to the level of leap and transcendence. Th acceptance of death and reflection on death play a major role in such possibility. Consequently, death education lead us to the level beyond Existenz, which result in an altruistic life.    There would be eight subjects of death education to be discussed 1. Death education can help us establish existential self by serious thinking. 2. Death education can provide, in terms of Amor Fati by Nietzsche, the philosophical background for suicide prevention education. 3. Death education can give us existential freedom to overcome boundary situation. 4. Death education can be co-existence education beyond individual existential education. 5. Death education can be implemented in terms of religion, especially Christianity and Buddhism. 6. Death education can be the alternative education with the possibility of non-continuous education. 7. Death education can open another horizon by giving us a turning point. 8. Last but not least, death education and existential philosophy has its own limitation.     Death education can have its fundamental on existential philosophy because death as Existenz is not a gradual change but a revolutionary and holistic transformation. Death takes away and destroy the life from us but the serious thinking about the death matures our life. Death education should be the education for valuable life, reflective life, and consummated life.
