초록[abstracts]
[본 연구의 목적은 노인들이 자살관념을 어떻게 극복했는지를 확인하는 데 있다. 세평적 사례선택(reputational case selection)을 통해 최종 6명의 사례자를 선정했으며, 1:1 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집했다. 수집된 자료는 Creswell(2013)이 제안한 사례연구 방법을 활용해 분석했다. 첫째, 연구절차에 따라 ‘사례 내 분석’을 시도했다. 이를 통해 개별 사례자들이 가지고 있는 자살관념 극복 경험의 맥락을 드러냈다. 둘째, 사례 간 분석을 통해 총 11개의 사례 간 통합주제를 추출했다. 분석 결과 병고, 허망감, 고독감, 상실감, 갈등과 좌절은 자살관념 생성요인으로 작용하고 있었으며, 남겨질 가족에 대한 걱정, 못다 이룬 노년의 꿈, 아름다운 마감에 대한 소망은 자살관념 극복 요인으로 작용하고 있었다. 그리고 사례자들은 질적 만남, 고통을 잊기 위한 여가활동, 삶의 의미 재발견을 통해 생성된 자살관념을 극복하고 있었다. 연구자들은 이 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 질적 관계 평가, 웰다잉(well dying) 교육, 상실감 확인, 삶의 목표 발견을 위한 안내, 정신건강관리 사업 홍보에 대한 필요성을 제안했다.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the ways how the elderly overcome suicidal ideation. A total of six cases were chosen through a reputational case selection and data were collected through 1:1 in-depth interviews. The collected data were analyzed using the case study method proposed by Creswell (2013). First, within-case analyses were carried out according to the research procedure. This process revealed the contexts of the experiences of overcoming the suicidal ideation that individual cases had developed. Second, a total of 11 integrated cross-case topics were extracted from cross-case analyses. As a result of the analyses, illness, senses of futility, loneliness, feelings of loss, conflict and frustration turned out to be the factors leading to the formation of suicidal ideation; while worries about their family to be left behind, unfulfilled dreams and wishes for a beautiful end of life were the factors contributing to overcoming suicidal ideation. The cases reported that they had overcome suicidal ideation through qualitative interpersonal relationships, leisure activities to forget sufferings, and the rediscovery of the meaning of life. Based on these findings, the researchers suggested the need for qualitative relationship assessment, well-dying education, the evaluation of feelings of loss, guidance for finding life goals, and the promotion of mental health care projects. ]
