해커들 천만 명에 달하는 환자들의 의료 기록 판매 [7월 4일]
한 해커가 천만 명에 달하는 환자들의 의료 기록을 온라인에 판매함. “thedarkoverlord”라는 필명의 해커는 환자들의 의료기록을 약 550만원(48만 5천 달러)에 판매했음. 의료정보들은 미주리 주의 파밍턴(Farmington, Missouri), 조지아 주의 애틀란타(Atlanta, Georgia), 중서부 지역 등에 위치한 병원들에서 유출되었음. 정보가 유출된 병원은 확인되지 않고 있음.
도난을 당한 정보에는 주민번호, 보험증권번호, 이름, 생년월일, 주소 등이 포함되어 있음. 해당 정보들은 계좌 개설, 대출 사기 등에 악용될 위험이 있음.
해커는 일정 금액을 대가로 지불한다면 정보 유출을 막아주겠다는 제안을 할 것이라고 밝힘. 지난 2월에 로스엔젤레스(Los Angeles)에 위치한 할리우드 프레스바이테리안 병원(Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center)은 네트워크가 공격받자 헤커에게 약 2천만 원(1만7천 달러)을 공격 중단의 대가로 지불한 바 있음. 그러나 병원들은 해커의 요구에 응하지 않을 방침임.
[Managed Care] Hacker Sells Health Records From Nearly 10 Million Patients
Health records from 9.3 million patients are being sold online by a hacker who stole the data from a health insurance database, according to FierceHealthcare. The hacker, who calls himself “thedarkoverlord,” put the records up for sale on TheRealDeal market for $485,000 (750 bitcoins). Earlier, the same hacker put records for approximately 655,000 patients at three hospitals for sale online. The data were stolen from unidentified hospitals in Farmington, Missouri; Atlanta, Georgia; and the “Central Midwest.”........
