유럽에서 가장 엄격한 낙태법을 가지고 있던 북아일랜드에서 낙태는 이제 합법적임. 10월 21일 자정부터 여성들은 법적으로 낙태를 하고 의학적인 사후관리를 받을 수 있게 됨. 영국 정부는 여성이 낙태하기 위하여 잉글랜드로 여행하는 비용도 지원할 예정임. 북아일랜드의 지역 낙태서비스는 2020년 3월 31일까지 준비되어야 함.
