- If the law on management of umbilical cord blood is made, there are several substantial profits as follows. First, in the aspect of medical providers, ① medical acts would be performed with an easy mind through arranging the legal grounds on use of umbilical cord blood. Thus the medical studies using umbilical cord blood would be accelerated. Moreover, because of being practicable to interchange the information between umbilical cord blood banks, medical service of good quality would be able to serve. ② It would be grounds on being possible over the international use of umbilical cord blood through arranging the legal grounds on taking umbilical cord blood in and out from overseas. Besides, the economic loss would be removed through legalizing umbilical cord blood bank formed of a business corporation and prohibiting bombastic advertisement between umbilical cord blood banks. Secondly, in the aspect of medical recipients, ① owing to being applicable of principle of explanation and informed consent on gathering, storage and supply of umbilical cord blood, the right to decide themselves of the patients would be established, and it would playa role to prevent against medical strife it may happen. Besides, distrust on quality preservation of umbilical cord blood bank could be dissolved through being possible of legal order over custody agency of umbilical cord blood. ② Medical services would be served much better through arranging the grounds on reciprocal and international information interchange of umbilical cord blood banks.
