Major issues in neuroethical debate concerning pharmocological mood enhancement were buried in the broader ethical issues on human enhancement such as safety, side effects of drugs, justice and fairness, and social pressures. Because such problems are not uniquely related to mood enhancement, ethical issues of pharmacological mood enhancement cannot be shown more sharply. In fact, neuroethical issues that are uniquely specific to pharmacological mood enhancement may be the issues of authenticity, identity, and self. In this regard, this article focused on analyzing neuroethical issues of pharmocological mood enhancement. After a brief conceptual and historical overview of mood enhancement, neuroethical issues of pharmocological mood enhancement - the improvement of mood and related mental functions by means of pharmaceuticals - are analyzed in a systematic fashion.
국문 초록[abstracts]
약리학적 기분 향상에 관한 신경윤리학적 논쟁에서 주요 이슈는 안전성, 의약품의 부작용, 정의와 공평, 사회적 압력 등과 같은 인간 향상의 일반적인 윤리적 문제에 매몰되어 온 것이 사실이다. 그런 문제는 기분 향상에만 특수한 것이 아니기에, 기분 향상이 지니고 있는 신경윤리학적 문제를 더욱 명료하게 부각하지 못하는 단점이 있다. 사실 기분 향상에 더욱 특수하고 구체적인 신경윤리학적 문제는 진정성, 정체성, 자아의 문제일 것이다. 이에 이 논문에서는 약리학적 기분 향상이 지니고 있는 신경윤리학적 문제를 분석하는 데 초점을 맞추고자 한다. 이를 위해 이 논문에서는 약리학적 기분 향상의 개념과 역사에 대해 살펴보고, 심리 상태나 특성을 인위적으로 변경하려는 약리학적 기분 향상의 신경윤리학적 문제를 규명하였다.
